November 10, 2007 - Westwood, usually not very strong, sporting a new coach and a very organized style of play were no match for the Vero Indians.  Leading the charge was Josh Sposato's magnificent, unselfish passing finding goal scorers on three ocassions.  Tom Urso showed he can regroup himself after missing a sitter by scoring two goals on the night and displaying another consistent performance.  Lee Hardin was all over the field playing a new striker role on the night and a bit at outside midfield where he was brilliant on the ball setting up attack after attack and getting the ball where it needed to be after beating people or being put under pressure.  Colin Emerson struck again, 2nd goal in as many games, with a gorgeous head goal over an outstretched goalie off a perfect corner kick from Sposato.  Then Sposato struck again receiving a great pass and blasting thru the defense for a goal into the upper corner from the left side when the goalie made an incredible deflection that set up 'trashman' Forrest Fegert for his second, important 'pick up the pieces', 'follow the shot' type of goal...Another goal was scored when Adam Turner received a great pass, then played a thru pass finding Urso who romped thru the defense and from the angle, drove home a low liner into the corner of the net.  Colin Emerson and Adam Turner assisted Urso's next goal off a throw by Colin and a terrific heading flick over by Turner and Urso was there where he needed to be to put it away.  Sposato hit yet another terrific corner, this time low to the front post where 'Rabbit' Brad Clark's quickness was displayed as he put away his first Varsity goal and finished with three goals on the week hitting in two for jv's the night before.   We saw Xerxes Lewis and Sam Wood working together in the middle of the back...we saw solid play from the normal center backs Jordan Turner and Christian Bordoli.  We saw Matt Redstone make a few solid saves as starting keeper.  We saw Max and Garber and Spoto coming off the bench and giving some good minutes to the team.  We saw Azim Hussian play well as a utility player all over the place and place a beautiful long ball right on Urso's chest.  We saw Drew Arsenault do some fancy footwork on a loose ball to get it out of pressure.  We saw all these guys combining for some improved buildup out of the back and denial of any attack that Westwood might build.  We saw Forrest Fegert drawing fouls as a good striker does consistently.   We saw Josue Terrones busting it at center midfield and making some more good decisions at outside midfield when we needed it.  We saw Christian Bordoli and Sam Wood win some big headers and almost score.  We have a big week next week with three games against three important opponents so we will need a lot of bodies to get thru it with three wins and keep everyone healthy.  Make sure you are all running this weekend and come Monday...bring the enthusiasm!!!!

November 10, 2007 - Vero Beach Indians attack new season with flashes of brilliance and a flurry of goals downing Okachobee 4-2 in season opener! Josh Sposato was at his best sprinting thru the defense and getting a cross into senior freshman Forrest Fegert who brought the ball down off his chest like a senior and drew a foul like a striker needs to for a crucial free kick early on.  Off Sposato's decoy, Lee put the ball thru Carson Banov's legs for Colin Emerson's hard shot.  Colin delivered with a crushing goal to open the regular season and open up the game's six goals...the free kick was organized and looked dangerous.  The outcome couldn't have been better! Emerson, a few minutes later, showed his vision in midfield by passing it thru the defense in the path of an on-sprinting Sposato who cooly took on the keeper and found side netting sliding it by for the second goal and a 2-0 lead.  The opposition didn't quit and caught the Vero defense on a counter-attack to make a game of it 2-1. Slowing down a counter attack and not trying to make the huge play is very important...teams can't dive, we must pressure the long ball, be patient and run back with the attack slowing it down forcing them wide or back...
The Indians regrouped and countered on their own with Josue Terrones holding the ball in the attacking third and making a pinpoint pass through to a rushing Adam Turner who smoothly put it away for the 3rd goal.  Credit Terrones for a great job on the pass but even better job holding the ball and making the defense commit to Josh Sposato's decoy run across the defense which opened up a lane for Turner.  Great run by Josh!  The defense showed some flair knocking it around in the back and helping each other on the dangerous play of their
three striker system...Credit to Jordan Turner and Christian Bordoli leading the defensive effort.  Matt Redstone finished his first start in goal recording four saves and playing out some big punts to start the attack. To finish off Okachobee, another great thruball was played to Sposato and Josh did a great job to get to it, beat another defender and draw a big foul for another big free kick.  Josh put in yet another great ball as he did all night and Tom Spoto was making a terrific, curving run on the cross and headed in a brilliant goal that put the game out of reach. It was a great effort by the whole team.  For a first game, this team is on its way to becoming something to special to watch.

February 2, 2007 - The Vero Beach Boy's will host Alonso High School of Tampa on Tuesday, 2/6/2007, at 7 PM at the Citrus Bowl for the right to play in Friday's Regional Finals.  Alonso defeated District Champions Sarasota 2 nil on Thursday to advance.

January 25, 2007 - Vero beat Eau Gallie 3-1 revenging an upset loss in last year's district.  Jon Turner was the man of the match with 11 saves in goal and denying the tall Eau Gallie player's from goal time after time. Jon played as tall as he's ever played and took it to the Eau Gallie game plan of set pieces into the mixer.  Jon won the mix!  You could say he was the "key ingredient!"

After giving up a goal, the Indians answered at the next kickoff.  Josh
Sposato raced down the right with a brilliant run with the ball and lifting
an endline cross up over the defense finding Gabe DeCuba for a header on the back post.  This huge tying goal led a huge momentum shift.   Steve Hoover hit a beautiful back post corner kick that an outstretched goalie couldn't get but Mike Simpson could.  Mike positioned himself perfectly to head it back across the goal mouth to the awaiting head of Carson Banov to score the game winner!   To put the game out of reach, Colin Emerson made a magnificent play and pass in midfield delivering the ball wide to Lee Hardin.  Lee looked up and delivered a perfect ball to the left foot of Ryan Lowther. Lowther took a touch and set up his shot and drilled the 3rd goal through the arms of the Eau Gallie goalie, an unstoppable shot to finish out the scoring and eliminate any hope Eau Gallie had of coming back. Huge goals, each one.  Huge defensive effort.  Huge game for Vero.  Huge team effort! With this win, we have put ourselves in a great position for even more success.
