January 27, 2012 - Vero Beach 3 Apopka 3, double OT No Score, Penalty Shootout Apopka 6 Vero 5.  A game that featured FOUR penalty kicks in the second-half and 13 players taking PK's to determine the winner of the Regional Semi-Final match.  It's tough to have the season end early, but there are many wonderful highlights and another District Championship!  Let the countdown begin:  TRYOUTS for the 2012 / 2013 Season is ONLY 260 days a way!!

January 24, 2012 - Vero Beach 8 Wekiva 0.  Striker, Hailey Bertin scored the winning goal 4-minutes into the match assisted by Ashley Calcagno.  Alana Hockenhull made it 2 nil on a Logan Parvus assist just 19-minutes in.  Hockenhull added her second goal of the night at the 30th minute with Calcagno recording the assist.  With 3-minutes remaining in the first half, Rebecca Pastir beat several Wekiva defenders on the dribble and was fouled in the penalty area.  Hockenhull stepped in and converted the penalty for her third goal of the evening, giving the Lady Indians a commanding 4 nil half-time lead.  The Fighting Indians started the second half, just like the first, with Bertin scoring just 3-minutes in.  Bertin headed a Parvus cross to the far post making it 5 nil.  6-minutes later, Hockenhull scored her 42ndgoal of the year with Calcagno recording her 24th assist of the season.  Bertin beat the Wekiva goalkeeper near-post at the 60th minute, recording her first hat-trick of the season.  Emilee Rodriguez recorded the assist.  Rodriguez tallied her second assist of the evening, when she crossed a ball to the far-post where McKenzie Kirby volleyed the ball out of the air into the back of the net for Vero Beach’s 8th goal and a mercy-rule victory at the 63rd-minute.  Goalkeeper, Destiny Kelley recorded her 10th shutout, and only had to make 2-saves in goal.  It was the Fighting Indians 10th consecutive win, 8 of those from shutouts.  The Vero Beach defense of  Kaley Fennell, Alex Kuh, Kat McClain and Ashley Ritter continue to impress not allowing any quality shots against them.  Vero Beach travels to Apopka on Friday for a Regional Semi-Final match.  Vero beat Apopka last year in the semi's by a score of 3 to 2.  Game time is 7 pm.  Summary:  Hockenhull – 4 goals, Bertin 3 goals, Kirby 1 goal, Calcagno 3 assists, Parvus 2 assists, Rodriguez 2 assists, Pastir 1 assist.

January 20th, 2012 - DISTRICT CHAMPIONS !!  Vero Beach 4 Treasure Coast 0.  TCPALM Story.  Alli Walsh scored the game winner at the 7-minute mark heading an Ashley Calcagno cross to the far post.  Calcagno made it 2 nil when she nailed a left footed shoot to the upper left corner from 35-yards out.  Alex Kuh recorded the assist.  With two-minutes remaining in the first-half,  Calcagno played a long diagonal  ball to Alana Hockenhull who raced into the right edge of the penalty area and slotted a pass to Hailey Bertin.  Bertin put-it-away giving the Lady Indians a commanding 3 nil lead at half time.  Vero Beach made it 4 to 0 at the 50th minute when Bertin lobbed a pass to Sarah Keville.  Keville volleyed the ball down to her left foot and found the upper right corner.  Goalkeeper, Destiny Kelley recorded 3 saves in goal and recorded her 9th shutout of the year.  It was the team's 10th shutout of the year, six in the last 8-games.  Vero Beach has won 8-consecutive matches and has allowed only 2 goals in 8 games.  It was a TEAM effort, with solid defending, excellent midfield transition and quality finishes.  Vero plays Wekiva on Tuesday at 7 pm in the Regional Quarterfinals for Class 5A Region 2 District 6.

January 17, 2012- Vero Beach 1 Centennial 0 – The Fighting Indians defeated Centennial by a score of 1 to 0 to advance to the District Finals on Friday at 6:30 pm.  Vero Beach's Alana Hockenhull scored the winning goal at the 37-minute mark.  Ashley Calcagno recorded the assist.  Calcagno volleyed a pass through to Hockenhull who slipped to the byline and bent her shot to the far post side net.  The Centennial goalkeeper had a busy night and made some outstanding saves to keep the Lady Indians from tallying any additional goals.  Vero Beach improves to 14-3-1 and has an opportunity for another District Championship on Friday at South County Stadium versus Treasure Coast.  Game time is 6:30 pm.

January 13, 2012- Vero Beach 3 Lincoln Park 0 – The Fighting Indians defeated Lincoln Park Academy (13-5) by a score of 3 to 0 at Lawnwood Stadium.  Alana Hockenhull scored her 36th goal of the year at the 6-minute mark on an assist from Ashley Calcagno.  It was the lone goal of the first half and would be the game winner.  Sophomore right midfielder, Logan Parvus scored her first goal of the year following-up a Hockenhull shot at the 64-minute mark.  With 4-minutes remaining in the match, McKenzie Kirby initiated a counter-attack with a 35-yard pass that Hockenhull collected, out ran two LPA defenders on the dribble, and beat the goalkeeper to the far post side net.  It was Hockenhull's 37th goal of the season.  The Fighting Indian defense was impressive not allowing a shot on goal and only conceding one corner kick the entire match.  Vero's counter-attack originated off the lone LPA corner kick.  Goalkeeper Niiki Illare did not have to make a save in goal.  Illare did make several good plays on balls that were played wide into the penalty area.  It was Illare's 7th consecutive shutout, 6 on the JV team and her first on the varsity team.  Defensive midfielder, Alex Kuh was voted player of the match by her teammates and coaches.  Defenders Kaley Fennell, Sarah Keville, Kat McClain and Ashley Ritter were collectively outstanding in denying, a good LPA team, any quality looks at their goal.  Calcagno and Kuh were outstanding in controlling the middle of the field.  Vero Beach improves to 13-3-1 and recorded their 8th shutout of the regular season.    The Indians begin post-season play on Tuesday against Centennial at South County Stadium.  Game time is 6:30 pm.

January 9, 2012 - Vero Beach will play Centennial on Tuesday, January 17th at 6:30 pm in the District Semi-Final match.  The winner will play Treasure Coast on Friday, January 20th at 6:30 pm.  All Games will be played at South County Stadium in Port St. Lucie.

January 6, 2012- Vero Beach 4 Palm Bay 1 – The Fighting Indians defeated Palm Bay High School by a score of 4 to 1 on Senior Night.  Alana Hockenhull scored her 34th goal of the year at the 30-minute mark and then two-minutes later her 35th goal.  Hockenhull’s two goals gave Vero Beach a 2 to 0 lead at half-time.  Alex Kuh scored at the 41-minute to take the Lady Indians up by 3 goals.  Maria Garabics made it 4 nil at the 65-minute mark. Alli Walsh recorded 2 assists, Kat McClain and Hailey Bertin each recorded 1 assist.  Destiny Kelley made 4 saves in goal and recorded a first half shutout.  Nikki Illare recorded 4 saves and allowed one goal late in the game.  Vero Beach improves to 12-3-1.  Vero Beach had an outstanding defensive effort from centerbacks Kaley Fennell and Ashley Ritter.  The Indians play Lincoln Park on Friday, Janaury 13th at Lawnwood Stadium.  Game time is 5 pm.  Game Photo at:  click here  Senior Night Photo:  click here

January 5, 2012 - Vero Beach 5 Melbourne Central Catholic 0 – The Fighting Indians started the 2012 year with a commanding win defeating MCC 5 to 0.  Hailey Bertin nearly made 1 nil early in the game but the deflection off the far post denied what looked like a certain goal.  It was Ashley Calcagno, in the 26th minute,  who scored the winning goal, unassisted, from a corner kick that sailed to the far post.  One-minute later Calcagno assisted fellow freshman Alan Hockenhull who scored her 31st goal of the season.  Two minutes later, Hailey Bertin made it 3 nil with Hockenhull  recording the assist.  Hockenhull made it 4 nil at the 34-minute mark assisted by Rebecca Pastir.  Pastir battled for possession of the ball and then made a perfect slotted pass, splitting two defenders to find Hockenhull.  The Lady Indians took a 4 nil lead into half-time. Hockenhull scored the final goal of the match, and her third of the evening, at the 57-minute mark assisted by Brooke MacMillan.  Destiny Kelley recorded her 7th shutout and made 5-saves in goal.  Vero Beach improves to 11-3-1.  Senior Night is tomorrow against Palm Bay HS.  Game time is at 6 pm and senior introductions are at 5:30 pm.

January 3, 2012 - Schedule Change ... The match on Wednesday, 1/4 was cancelled.  Senior Night Match is in the process of being rescheduled.  Senior Meal for ALL players is at 2:30 pm at the Half Hour Inn tomorrow.  

December 21, 2011 - Vero Beach 3 West Boca 1.  The Vero Beach Fighting Indians’ conceded a goal on a well struck ball from 25-yards out 15 minutes into the match giving West Boca 1 to 0 lead.  But, freshman striker, Alana Hockenhull tied the game on a back-to-goal volley shot from a Brooke MacMillan throw-in at the 38-minute mark.  The game was tied at the end of the first-half.  Four minutes into the second-half, right-winger Logan Parvus beat two defenders and crossed a perfect ball to the top of the 6-yard box where Hockenhull headed the ball over the West Boca GK's stretched hands.  Hockenhull put the game out of reach at the 54-minute mark when she beat two defenders on a speed dribble and placed a low shot to the far post.  Ashley Ritter recorded the assist.  Hockenhull has scored 8 goals in the last 3 matches and 30 goals on the season.  Goalkeeper, Destiny Kelley recorded 6-saves in goal.  The second-half  defensive effort was excellent.  MacMillan, Ritter, Parvus, Kaley Fennell, McKenzie Kirby, Kat McClain, Lindsey Cairns, Emilee Rodriguez and Alli Walsh defended as a team.  Vero Beach was playing without senior starters Kathleen Keenan and Sarah Keville who last year combined for 40 goals and 40 assists.  The Indians were also missing freshman center-midfielder Ashley Calcagno who has 16 assists in 11 games.  Tonight's result is a tribute to the hard-work and depth of this year's team where players are competing daily for playing time.  The Fighting Indians record improves to 10-3-1.  Vero Beach returns to action on January 4th, 2012 at the Citrus Bowl versus Okeechobee on Senior Night.  Merry Christmas!

December 20, 2011 - Vero Beach 5 Bayside 0.  The Vero Beach Fighting Indians’ Alana Hockenhull scored three consecutive first half goals at the 13, 16 and 39-minute mark to give Vero Beach a 3 nil lead at half-time.  McKenzie Kirby would make it 4 nil with a shot from 25-yards out that sailed far post over the Bayside GK.  Hockenhull scored the final goal on a penalty kick when she was fouled inside the penalty area.  Alli Walsh had an assist and headed a ball off the goal-line to preserve the shutout.  Kirby and Hockenhull recorded assists.  Goalkeeper, Destiny Kelley recorded 4-saves in goal and her 6th shutout of the year.    The Fighting Indians record improves to 9-3-1.  In JV action, April Blackwill and Brett Thomason scored first half goals to give the Lady JV players a 2 nil victory.  Nikki Illare recorded the shutout with 4-saves on the night and Caylea Mace played in goal for the last 15-minutes but did not have to make a save. 

December 17, 2011 - Vero Beach 5 Clearwater Central Catholic 0.  The Fighting Indians’ Alana Hockenhull scored three consecutive goals at the 9, 11 and 32-minute mark to give Vero Beach a commanding early lead against Clearwater.  Alex Kuh made it 4 nil at the 37-minute mark with a shot from 30-yards out.  It was 4 nil at the half.  Estefany Hernandez, Kat McClain and Ashley Ritter recorded assists.  Hailey Bertin scored the games final goal midway through the second half on a Hockenhull assist.  Goalkeeper, Destiny Kelley recorded 5-saves in goal and her 5th shutout of the year.   Kaley Fennell, McKenzie Kirby and Rebecca Pastir dominated play out of the center of the field in today's match.  The Fighting Indians record improves to 8-3-1.   Vero Beach plays at Bayside on Tuesday, JV at 5:30 pm and Varsity at 7 pm. 

 December 16, 2011 – Vero Beach 1 American Heritage-Plantation 2.  Alana Hockenhull scored her 20th goal of the season giving the Fighting Indians an early lead when she found the far corner of the net at the 5-minute mark.  Alex Kuh recorded the assist.   It was a very good first-half of soccer with both teams exchanging scoring opportunities.  The second half started with near misses for both team, but Plantation tied the game at the 50th – minute.  With 15 minutes remaining in the match, Hockenhull slipped by two Plantation players in the penalty area, was fouled … but not awarded the obvious penalty kick.  With 8 minutes remaining, Plantation scored from 30-yards out on a well-hit ball that slid under the crossbar.  Plantation had a slight edge on shots on goal.  Destiny Kelley recorded 10 saves.  Vero Beach slips to 7-3-1 and Plantation improves to 16-1-1.

December 13, 2011 - Vero Beach 3 Centennial 0.  Vero Beach clinches the Number ONE seed for the District tournament!  It took the Fighting Indians only 25 seconds to score their first goal of the night when Alli Walsh finished a Hailey Bertin cross to the near post for the game-winning goal.  Walsh made it 2 nil heading an Ashley Calcagno corner kick into the back of the net.  The Lady Indian led 2 nil at half-time.  Vero Beach came out firing again and Alana Hockenhull scored on a Hailey Bertin assist 40-seconds into the second half.  Numerous opportunities would fail to find the back of the net for the Indians.   Destiny Kelley recorded her 4th shutout and only had to make 4 routine saves. Vero Beach had 20 shots on goal and Centennial 5.  Alli Walsh was named player of the match.  In JV action, the game ended 0 to 0 in spite of many scoring opportunities.  Goalkeeper, Nikki Illare was player of the match for JV. 

December 8, 2011 - Vero Beach 5 Harmony 1.  It took the Fighting Indians only 49 seconds to score their first goal of the night and then the game-winning goal 35-minutes later at Harmony High School.  Harmony was a State semi-finalist in Class 4A last year.  Alana Hockenhull scored both first half goals on assists from Alex Kuh and Kat McClain.  Harmony narrowed the margin to 2-1 converting on a penalty kick.  Hailey Bertin scored back to back goals at the 55 and 60-minute mark to give Vero a 4 to 1 lead.  Hockenhull had both assists and then completed her hat-trick with a goal at the 68th minute.  Bertin recorded the assist.  Hockenhull was involved in all 5 Vero goals recording 3 goals and 2 assists.  Destiny Kelley made 3-saves in goal for Vero Beach.  Credit goes to a very strong defensive effort from Ashley Ritter, Kaley Fennell, McKenzie Kirby and McClain.  The Lady Indians improve to 6-2-1 and can clinch the number one seed on Tuesday when they travel to South County Park to play district opponent Centennial at 7 pm.

``December 6, 2011 - Vero Beach 0 Treasure Coast 2.  The Fighting Indians were shutout for the first time this year at the hands of District opponent Treasure Coast.  The game was 0 to 0 at half-time in spite of Vero's 8 corner kicks and a 10 to 4 shot on goals advantage.  But Treasure Coast played a determined second half, they defended aggressively and decisively, and were able to capitalize at the 65-minute mark. Both teams are now 2-1-0 in District play, trading home wins. Vero Beach falls to 5-2-1.  The Lady Indians travel to Harmony on Thursday.  In JV action, Vero Beach defeated Treasure Coast 3 to 0.  Treasure Coast was the the only team to have beaten the JV team this year.  Sydney Keiler had two goals and Brett Thomas recorded one.  April Blackwill and Jalen Fisher had the assists.  Nikki Illare recorded 6-saves and her fourth consecutive shutout.

December 2, 2011 - Congratulations!! Winners in the classroom and on the pitch.  Vero Beach High School Girls Soccer is awarded the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 6th Consecutive year.  Only 7 teams in the State of Florida received this national award.  Congratulations Vero Beach Soccer !!  http://www.nscaa.com/news/2011/11/2011-nscaa-high-school-team-academic-award-winners-announced

December 1, 2011 - Vero Beach 8 Palm Bay 0.  The Fighting Indians took and early lead in Palm Bay on Thursday and ended the game after 51-minutes.  Alana Hockenhull opened the scoring at the 2-minute mark on an assist from Hailey Bertin.  Kathleen Keenan made it 2 nil heading a ball that was sent into the box by Maria Garabics.  Bertin finished a direct-kick by Kat McClain for Vero’s third goal.  Garabics scored far-post on an assist from Ashley Calcagno.  Keenan scored her second of the night on a double assist from Garabics and Calcagno taking the game to half-time with a score of 5 nil.  Hockenhull scored in the first minute of the second-half on another double assist from Calcagno and Alli Walsh.  Calcagno scored the Lady Indians 7th goal on an assist from Keenan. Hockenhull ended the game with her third goal of the night, just 51-minutes into the match. Goalkeeper, Destiny Kelley recorded her third shutout and only had to make 3-saves.  The Fighting Indians improve to 5-1-1.  In JV action, Brett Thomason scored 2 goals and Jalen Fisher 1 goal to lead the Lady Indians to a 3 nil victory.  Goalkeeper, Nikki Illare recorded her third consecutive shutout.  Vero plays Treasure Coast on Tuesday in a District match at South County Park in Port St. Lucie.

Novermber 29, 2011 - Vero Beach 1 Rockledge 2.  Vero Beach took a 1 nil lead 4-minutes into the game on a Kathleen Keenan goal, assisted by Alana Hockenhull.  Rockledge tied the game in the first half and took a 2 to 1 lead 15-minutes into the second half.   Scoring opportunities in both halves for Vero Beach were present but the Lady Indians could not find the back of the net.  Vero out-shot Rockledge 23 to 10.  Destiny Kelley recorded 4-saves and Rockledge had 11 saves.   The Lady Indians record is 4-1-1.  Vero plays Palm Bay on Thursday at 7 pm in Palm Bay.  In Junior Varsity action, Brett Thomason scored as Vero Beach defeated Rockledge 1 nil.  Nikki Illare recorded 3 saves in goal for the shutout.

November 26th, 2011 - The VBHS boys and girls soccer team car wash fundraiser will be held on December 10, 2011.  Shifts will be from 9:00 am-3:00pm at Coastal Suds-n-Shine located at 60 43rd Avenue across from the Trading Post.

Novermber 22, 2011 - Vero Beach 4 Jensen Beach 2.  Vero Beach took a 4 nil lead scoring two goals in the first half and two goals in the first 7-minutes of the second half before conceding two goals to Jensen Beach late in the game.  Senior striker Kathleen Keenan opened the scoring at the 15-minute mark beating the goalkeeper to the right corner.  Ashley Calcagno recorded the assist.  Alana Hockenhull scored her 11th goal of the season at the 39-minute mark with Calcagno recording the assist.  Hockenhull scored the game winner 2-minutes into the second half on an assist from Kat McClain.  At the 47th minute, Hailey Bertin scored her first goal of the season with Calcagno recording her third assist of the match and her 11th assist in five games.  Goalkeeper Destiny Kelley recorded 6-saves.  The Lady Indians improve to 4-0-1.  Vero plays Rockledge on Tuesday at 7 pm in Rockledge.  In Junior Varsity action, Caylea Mace, Brett Thomason and Jalen Fisher scored as Vero Beach defeated Jensen 3 nil.  Nikki Illare recorded 5 saves in goal for the shutout.

November 19th, 2011 -  Vero Beach and Spruce Creek played to a 2 to 2 draw at the Hobart Soccer Complex on Saturday afternoon. Spruce Creek, a Regional Finalist in Class 6A last season made the most of their limited opportunities and capitalized on two defensive miscues to take a 2 to 0 lead into half-time.  At the 50th minute, the Fighting Indians cut the lead in half when Freshman, McKenzie Kirby scored on a near post shot from 15-yards out, Alana Hockenhull recorded the assist.  With ten-minutes remaining, Vero Beach’s persistent attack paid off as Hockenhull beat the Hawk’s goalkeeper on a 1 v 1 and scored to tie the game.  Ashley Calcagno recorded the assist.  Vero goalkeeper, Destiny Kelley had 5 saves.  The Lady Indians remain undefeated with a record of 3-0-1.  Vero Beach plays Jensen Beach on Tuesday at 7 pm at the Hobart Soccer Complex.

November 15, 2011Vero Beach blanks Treasure Coast 6 nil in a District match at the Hobart Soccer Complex.  Freshman, Alana Hockenhull scored the game winner 16-minutes in on an assist from fellow freshman, Ashley Calcagno.  Numerous first-half opportunities failed to find the net and the 1 goal margin stood until Calcagno ripped a shot from 20-yards out to the near post at the 47-minute mark assisted by Alana Hockenhull.  Calcagno recorded three more second half assists on goals by Hockenhull, Kathleen Keenan and Sarah Keville.  Keenan scored her second goal on an assist from Walsh.  Goalkeeper Destiny Kelley recorded 4-saves and posted her second shutout.  The Vero Beach defense led by center back Kaley Fennell, only allowed 2-shots on goal during the run of play.  The player of the match was Ashley Calcagno who was involved in 5 of the 6 goals.  The Lady Indians improve to 3-0-0 and 2-0-0 in Class 5A Region 2 District 6.  Vero Beach plays Spruce Creek on Saturday at 2 pm at the Hobart Soccer Complex.  In JV action, Vero Beach fell 2 to 1.  Jalen Fisher scored the lone goal for Vero Beach.

November 8, 2011 - Vero Beach defeats Centennial 6 to 1 at the Hobart Soccer Complex.  It was Vero's first District Match of the year. Alana Hockenhull scored 16-minutes in on an assist from Ashley Calcagno to give the Lady Indians a lead they would never relinquish.  Alli Walsh scored from 22-yards out, on what would turnout to be the game winner, on an assist from McKenzie Kirby.  Vero conceded a soft goal on a direct play that was deflected into the goal just before the half.  Vero Beach came out firing in the second half, with Hockenhull scoring 1-minute into the second half assisted again by Calcagno.   Alana Hockenhull, made it a 4 to 1 game on assist from Hailey Bertin and recorded her second hat-trick in as many games.  Kathleen Keenan added back to back goals within two-minutes of each other on assists by Ashley Ritter and Hockenhull.  Destiny Kelley recorded 4-saves and allowed the lone goal.  Calcagno and Hockenhull were named players of the match.  In JV action, Sydney Keiler had a goal and an assist to lead the the Lady JV Indians.  Brett Thomason scored the game winner on an assist by Keiler.  Jalen Fisher added an assist.  Nikki Illare recorded 8-saves and allowed 1 goal.  Keiler and Illare were players of the match for JV.  The Fighting Indians will play Treasure Coast in a District match one week from today.

November 3, 2011 - Vero Beach defeats Astronaut 8 to 0 at the 68-minute mark of the second-half in their regular season opening match played in Titusville.  It was striker-frenzy as three of our strikers combined for all 8 goals.  Kathleen Keenan scored at the 4-minute mark following up her header that hit the cross-bar to give Vero an early lead.  Keenan would make it 2 nil on an assist from right back,  freshman, McKenzie Kirby.  Another freshman, Alana Hockenhull, would score three-consecutive goals at the 14, 20 and 31-minute mark on assists from Sarah Keville (2) and Rebecca Pastir (1).  Hockenhull would add her 4th goal of the night on another assist from Kirby.  Another pair of freshman would combine to end the game, when Maria Garabics took a through pass from Ashley Calcagno and beat the goalkeeper far-post.  Vero Beach Goalkeeper Destiny Kelley recorded 4 saves, including two outstanding ones, a low driven shot that knuckled down and a corner-kick that she pulled out of the air at the edge of the six-yard box and off the head of an incoming Astronaut player.  Vero Beach's defense was tough to beat, led by center-back Kaley Fennell, outside backs, Kat McClain and McKenzie Kirby and defensive midfielders Alex Kuh and Lindsey Cairns.  Keenan and Hockenhull were named players of the match.  Vero Beach plays Centennial in a District match on Tuesday.  In JV action, Jalen Fisher and Brett Thomason each scored goals as the Indians won 2 to 1.  Fisher had an assist and goalkeeper Nikki Illare recorded 7 saves,  Fisher was player of the match.

October 29, 2011 - Vero Beach defeats Tallahassee Chiles 4 to 2  in the Vero Beach Girls Soccer Pre-Season Classic at the Hobart Soccer Complex under a constant rain.  Chiles scored 15-minutes in on a Penalty Kick that was stopped by goalkeeper Nikki Illare but the rebound was knocked in.  Vero Beach Freshman, Ashley Calcagno, answered back with an unassisted goal from 30-yards out to tie the game at 1.  Left back, Kat McClain converted a direct-kick from 25-yards to give the Lady Indians a 2 to 1 lead into half time.  In the second half, Chiles would tie the game 2 to 2 when a headed ball bounced in front of the goal, to the foot of a Tallahassee player, and out of the reach of goalkeeper Destiny Kelley.  Vero answered again, when Kathleen Keenan one-timed a Hailey Bertin slotted pass to the back post to give Vero Beach the lead.  Ashley Calcagno followed up a McClain direct-kick and flicked it over the Chiles goalkeeper to give the Fighting Indians a two-goal victory.  Kat McClain and Ashley Calcagno were named players of the match.  It was a very strong pre-season performance by Vero Beach who was undefeated in the Tournament. Congratulations to ALL.

October 27, 2011 - No practice on Thursday due to Homecoming events.  Friday's practice Varsity 12:30 pm and JV at 2 pm.

October 25, 2011 - Vero Beach defeats West Shore 3 nil in the Vero Beach Girls Soccer Pre-Season Classic at the Hobart Soccer Complex.  Freshman, striker,  Alana Hockenhull scored at 3:32 on an assist from Hailey Bertin to give the Lady Indians an early lead.  Vero Beach allowed only one shot on goal in the first half but failed to score on numerous opportunities.  In the second half, Kat McClain sailed a shot over the goalkeeper's head from the right touchline, 30-yards out, to give the Indians a 2 nil lead.  With 9-minutes remaining, Rebecca Pastir one-touched an Alli Walsh centering pass into the back of the net to give Vero Beach a 3 nil lead.  Vero Beach goalkeeper Destiny Kelley recorded 2-saves in goal.  Freshman, center midfielder, Ashley Calcagno and defensive midfielder Alex Kuh were named players of the match.  Vero Beach will play Tallahassee Chiles on Saturday at 11 am at the Hobart Soccer Complex.

October 22, 2011 - Two-Mile Bridge Run  RESULTS Congratulations to Ashley Calcagno who posted the fastest time for 2011 at 13:08.  Ashley was only 34 seconds off the VBHS record time of 12:34 set in 2010.   Alex Kuh came in second at 14:06, beating her previous personal best time by 2-minutes!  Kaley Fennell 14:07 and Alana Hockenhull, 14:07, tied for third.  Maria Garabics 14:24 rounded out the top-five runners for 2011.  We had three freshman in the top five!  Once again, congratulations to all!  The pre-season classic games begin on Tuesday at 7 pm at the Hobart Soccer Complex.  Come support a very talented and fun to watch 2011/2012 VBHS Girl's Soccer Team.
