December 1st - Match Day Report
 
The VBHS Boys Soccer Team got back on the winning path in a district match against Treasure Coast with a 1-0 victory.  In a hard fought match between these two programs, Thiago Sampaio was able to capitalize on an opportunity in the first half which was the winning and lone goal of the match.  It was a great overall team effort with all the boys stepping up their play.  Roberto Trujillo started his first match between the wickets and ended up with his first shut out of the season, 4th overall of the season.  The Fighting Indians look to keep the winning streak alive when they face an undefeated Okeechobee team on Wednesday December 7th at Okeechobee, kick off is scheduled for 7 pm. Vero currently stands at 6-1; 2-0 in district play.
 
November 28th - Match Day Game Report
 
The VBHS Boys Soccer Team suffered their first defeat of the 2011-2012 campaign to the hands of Martin County, a 2010-2011 Class 5A Regional Semi-Finalist.  The match was a well fought battle between both teams, however the Fighting Indians were unable to capitalize on numerous chances and loss their footing later in the second half when Martin County capitalized late in the game with two goals.  Within the first 20 minutes of play Martin County got on the board first when a penalty kick was issued and Austin Diaz was unable to parry the ball away.  At the end of the first half Martin County lead 1-0.  The Fighting Indians regrouped in the second half and took advantage of a penalty. Adam Shields buried the penalty kick and the score was tied at 1-1.  Vero Beach maintain the majority of possession in the second half but was unable to capitalize on those opportunities.  Martin County got on the board with about 8 minutes to lead 2-1 and capitalized again with 30 seconds left to give the Tigers a 3-1 victory at their home stadium. The boys look to regroup in the next two days to prepare for a district match at home against Treasure Coast.  Kick off is scheduled for 6:30 pm Vero current record is 5-1; 1-0 in district play.
 

November 26th, 2011 - The VBHS boys and girls soccer team car wash fundraiser will be held on December 10, 2011.  Shifts will be from 9:00 am-3:00pm at Coastal Suds-n-Shine located at 60 43rd Avenue across from the Trading Post.

 

November 22nd - Match Day Game Report

 
The match against Fort Pierce Central was postponed do to the pitch.  The match is trying to be rescheduled. Currently Vero Beach is 5-0; 1-0 district going into the Thanksgiving Holiday.  There is a major test for the Fighting Indians on Monday November 28th, when the Indians travel to Martin County.  Martin County was a 5-A Regional Semi-Finalist last season.  Kick off is scheduled for 7 pm at Martin County High School.
 
November 17th - Match Day Game Report
 
Vero Beach remains undefeated. Connor D'Ambrosio, Adam Shields and Thiago Sampaio scored goals as the Vero Beach boys soccer team remained undefeated with a 3-0 win over St. Lucie West Centennial in a district match in Vero Beach.  Dylan Fisher added two assists and Austin Diaz had seven saves for his third shutout for Vero Beach (5-0, 1-0 district).  Vero Beach plays at Fort Pierce Central at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Lawnwood.
 
November 15th - Match Day Game Report
 
Vero Beach shuts out Jensen Beach.  Connor D'Ambrosio scored two goals as the Fighting Indians remained undefeated.  Dylan Fisher and Thiago Sampaio added one goal apiece for Vero Beach (4-0).  Rhys Lewis had two assists, and Edgar Mendez and Jayson Polvan had one apiece.  Austin Diaz made five saves in goal.
Vero Beach, 4-0 for the first time since the 2002-03 season, has outscored opponents 12-2 with two shutouts.  Vero Beach plays host to St. Lucie West Centennial at 7 p.m. Thursday.

 November 12th - Match Day Game Report

The VBHS Boys Soccer Team continued their winning ways defeating Satellite Beach 4 to 1.  The boys came out a bit flat to begin the match but were able to organize themselves and were able to capitalize first when Thiago Sampaio bury a shot into the back of the net.  Two minutes later Dylan Fisher found the net as well on a good individual effort.  At the half the Fighting Indians were up 2-0.  The boys came out and perform much better in the second half, although they had a breakdown which allowed Satellite an opportunity which they capitalized making the score 2-1.  The Fighting Indians keep their composure and Dylan Fisher once again was able to beat their keeper from a beautiful pass from Adam Shields.  The final goal of the match came from Danny King who buried a one time shot from a beautiful slotted pass from Dylan Fisher.  Austin Diaz had another solid performance between the wickets and had 6 saves.  Overall the boys seem like they are coming tighter as a unit and will continue to build the team’s chemistry when they face Jensen Beach on Tuesday November 15th when the team travels to Jensen Beach.

November 10th

The VBHS Boys Soccer Team faced an elite program and were able to beat Jupiter High School 1-0.  The match was an evenly fought outing with each team maintaining possession and weathering the opponents opportunities.  However with 2 minutes left in the second half Thiago Sampaio was able to head the ball into the back of the net from a cross by Kyle Phan, which gave the Indians a 1-0 lead with little time remaining.  The defense was able to step up their play in the later stages of the game to maintain the shut out.  Austin Diaz had 7 saves for the Indians.  Overall the boys came out and performed well against a solid opponent.  The team looks to build upon this win with a match against Satellite Beach on Saturday November 12th at Satellite Beach -- kick off is scheduled for 1 pm.

November 7th

The VBHS Boys Soccer Team began the 2011-2012 campaign with a solid victory against Edgewood, beating them 3 to 1.  The team was able to weathered an early attack by Edgewood and began to settle down play and took command of the match.  Connor D’Ambrosio was able to put the Indians up 1-0 by placing the ball in the back of the net with the assist coming from Adri Bordoli.  Connor D’Ambrosio capitalized again before half to give the team a 2-0 lead going into the half.  The Indians came out in the second half and controlled much of the play, however they concede a goal to Edgewood which made the score 2 to 1.  After being scored on the Indians regrouped and we able to find the back of the goal once more, when Dylan Fisher tallied a goal from a slotted ball played by Simon Sarmiento making the final score 3 to 1 and giving Vero Beach their 1st victory of the season.  Austin Diaz perform well in his first match between the wickets.  He had 4 saves.  Overall it was a good performance to begin the 2011-2012 campaign.

November 3rd - Preseason Match Day Game Report

The VBHS Boys Soccer Team had an exceptional showing in a 1-1 draw against Okeechobee, last year District 5-A Champion.  The team held possession for about 80% of the match and took the lead with 8 minutes left in the first half.  Kyle Phan slotted a ball to outside midfielder Connor D’Ambrosio who took the pass in stride and then placed the ball in the back of the net.  Unfortunately, an offside call was blown two minutes later and Okeechobee took advantage by netting a goal right before the half.  The second half was much of the same with Vero dominating possession and control of the match but was unable to capitalize on the chances provided.  The Fighting Indians out shot their opponent 21 to 9.  Austin Diaz perform quite well in between the wickets and had 6 saves.  Overall the performance was quite good for the team’s first outing and will continue to build on this performance in the season opener on Monday November 7th when the team travels to Edgewood.

October 14th

Well we are now down to 3 days till our season begins. Soccer Try Outs will begin on Monday October 17th at 2:30 pm -- location 20th Ave field -- make sure you are ready to go promptly at 2:30 pm -- For those of you who have not turned in your paper work you will need it to be handed in prior to the try out -- If you do not have your athletic packet and physical completed you will not be able to participate in try outs until that paper worked is handed in.

Make sure you bring your training equipment -- All player MUST wear SHIN GUARDS at all training session -- you will also need socks, a white, red, or black t-shirts -- shorts should be either white, black or red and please do not forget your cleats. Goalies bring all your gear -- gloves and goalie shirt as we will be having a goalie evaluation after the players are released.

For those that have already made the commitment to the team by attaining the 14 pre season conditioning sessions, the coaching staff and myself are so proud of all your efforts as they showed in the past 2 days of fitness testing we had this week.

September 1st -

The school year has officially begun and I hope everything is falling in place for all of you -- We are now only 45 days away from the start of the season on Monday October 17th, with try-outs -- I am looking forward to the upcoming season with many expectations for all of you and the team -- One of my current expectation is that you ALL attend the preseason conditioning and speed training as this will allow us to be fit and ready to go once the season starts as we only have 14 days to prepare prior to our preseason matches that are the week of October 30th at Jensen Beach.

I have work diligently over the summer with AJ (our school's athletic trainer) to comprise a suitable program, which Coach used in order to prepare for the US Veterans Cup I played in over the summer.

Start date for the training will begin on Tuesday August 30th at our training facility located at the 20th Avenue field and will be every Tuesday and Thursday from 2:45 to about 4 pm each day -- these training session will only be focused on fitness and getting players ready for the upcoming season -- there are only a total of 14 training session and I will be keeping a record of attendance -- You can access the training schedule as well as the upcoming season schedule at the following link --

In order for you to take part in these sessions you will need to have a completed player packet and physical -- for those incoming freshman and those new to the program I will need a copy of your birth certificate as well -- if I do not have these forms you will NOT be able to participate -- NO EXCEPTIONS -- you can pick up a form at the High School from Mrs. Manny the athletic secretary or down the physical form at this link --

There will be a player informational meeting at the high school as well in the next few weeks as well and I will forward an email to you all regarding this MANDATORY MEETING.

Finally I want everyone to know that there will be a lot of competition for playing spots both on the Varsity and JV rosters and it is up to you to be ready and demonstrate your commitment to the program.
