November 24th, 2007 - Vero Beach opens its Home Schedule with a match on Wednesday, 11/28/07, at the Citrus Bowl against county rival Sebastian River.  Thursday's match in Palm Bay is a crucial District game against Palm Bay.  Palm Bay comes in with a 1-6-1 record that could be deceiving.  Their lone victory came last week against a strong Merritt Island team.

November 8th, 2007 - Martin County escaped a barrage of shots and with a little help from the officials tied Vero Beach 0 to 0.  Sarah Martin recorded her third consecutive shutout and a very strong defensive performance limited Martin County to just 2 shots on goal.  The back of the net has been quite elusive to the Fighting Indians after scoring seven unanswered goals in the their  pre-season match against Titusville.  On the bright side,  they remain undefeated with three consecutive shutouts.  The JV team was more fortunate as their field dominance did find the back of the net seven times.  Megan Ostrower had 2 goals, Kristen Dietzen 1 goal and 3 assists, Aubrey Keller 1 goal and recorded the first half shutout in goal, Stephanie Norris 1 goal and recorded the second half shutout in goal, My Diem Reimer 1 goal and Hannah Witherell 1 goal.  The JV team is undefeated and has had three consecutive shutouts.

October 30th, 2007 -  Tropical Storm Noel sent a few rain bands and some gusty winds for the Girl's season opener against Treasure Coast High School but it did not damper a strong defensive performance and 3 nil victory.   Goalkeeper, Sarah Martin had a quiet night recording only one save in goal.  Ariel Lane scored at the 37th minute on an assist from freshman Jackie Metz who earned her first start as a varsity player.  The Indians out-shot Treasure Coast 8 to 1 in the first half.  At the 51st minute, a short corner play by Jessica Frederick and Sabrina Ross found Julia Morris on the far post who knocked it in for the goal.  Ross recorded the assist.  Allison Barkett had a corker of a shot on a 1 v 1 breakaway goal in the 60th minute for the Indians third goal.  Lane recorded the assist on well timed through ball assist.  Lauren Aldridge, Alissa Morein and Lyndsey Wojtaszek were solid in the back.  Four freshman players made their varsity debut and contributed  in tonight's win.  They were:  Metz, Allie deSanto, Alex Pulido and Lauriell Young.  In JV action, the Indians scored five unanswered goals led by Cassidy Bartholomew who recorded a hat-trick, and goals from My Diem Reimer and Kristen Dietzen.  Aubrey Keller had an assist and combined in goal with Stephanie Norris for the shutout.  Michelle Walter, Danielle Rappel and Hannah Witherell had a strong defensive game.

October 29th, 2007 - The 2007 / 08 regular season gets underway tomorrow with an away game against Treasure Coast High School.  The game will be played at South County Park in Port St. Lucie.  The team has prepared well and is ready for tomorrow's match.  Our defense is solid and Sarah Martin is looking very strong in goal.  We are working on building the attack, being more patient with the ball and finding quality opportunities in the final third.

October 24th, 2007 - The Melbourne Central Catholic Hustlers defeated the Vero Beach Fighting Indians by a score of 1 nil.  The Hustlers scored a goal in the 74th minute on a well placed shot to the far post.  Goalkeeper Sarah Martin had a strong performance in goal, recording 5 saves.  Vero Beach had several opportunities but could not capitalize.  It was a defensive battle that would come down to either a mistake or that one opportunity that one team would take advantage of.  The coaching staff was very pleased with the performance of the team.  Regular Season play begins on Tuesday with a game at South County Park against Treasure Coast High School.  Both JV and Varsity teams will compete next week.

October 22nd, 2007 - Allison Barkett recorded a hat trick in an 11 minute span of time to lead the Indians past the Titusville Terriers by a score of 7 to 0.  Julia Morris scored a goal in the 22nd minute and assisted on Barkett's third goal.  Aubrey Keller scored at the 33rd minute to give the Indians a 5 to 0 half-time lead.  Morris  and Keller were assisted by Freshman Lauriell Young.   The Indians started the second half  ready to end the match with early goals by Bessie Wallace and  Sydney Burgjohann.  Morris and Wallace recorded the assists.  The Indians challenged themselves by playing down to 10 players and were able to play a nice game of possession for 25-minutes of the second half.  Goalkeeper Sarah Martin made two routine saves in goal for her first shutout of the year.

January 19, 2007 - It was an exciting year with many positive results.  There were some great matches against some of the best teams in our area.  A 1 to 1 tie with both Merritt Island and Melbourne High School showed that we had the players and the discipline to play with the best.  Some injuries sidelined some outstanding players who could have made a big difference this year.  Our numbers were thin for the JV team but we had some young ladies from the varsity team who stepped-up and volunteered to help us.

We showed a lot of individual character and a lot of teamwork.  This year will only serve to make us stronger for the future.  We hope to see all of you working hard with your competitive teams in the spring and fall.  Keep working on your technical skills, stay fit and watch as much professional soccer as possible.

Thanks for some great memories!  Coach Jose Gibert
